Research

Dr. Wahdi’s research focuses on reproductive health, women’s health, and maternal and child health. She is exploring the women’s reproductive experience throughout the life-course and how it informs the policies and programs in Indonesia. Currently, Dr. Wahdi is the program manager of Indonesia’s National Adolescent Mental Health Survey (I-NAMHS), the first nationally representative adolescent mental health survey in Indonesia. This survey will also generate data on sexual debut experience among adolescents 12-17 years old in Indonesia.
Dr. Wahdi previously worked as a research manager on Performance Monitoring and Accountability 2020 (PMA2020) prior to her departure to Johns Hopkins. For her master thesis, she conducted a review on the effect of adverse pregnancy outcomes on the risk of preterm birth in the subsequent pregnancy.
Dr. Wahdi is passionate about the translation of the research findings into health policies and programs and its monitoring and evaluation. In the future, she would like to further explore the options to implement new reproductive health policies and programs to improve women’s health status in Indonesia.
Area of research/interests: family planning, cervical cancer, gender-based violence, and adolescent sexual behavior.

Service Activities

Dr. Wahdi supports the UNFPA Indonesia work in advocating comprehensive sexual education for adolescents. Dr. Wahdi is also a member of the UGM Biobank Development Team, which responsible for establishing and managing the biobank facility in the UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing. Since 2020, Dr. Wahdi has served as the scientific committee member of the International Conference on Public Health (ICOPH).
