dr. Ifta Choiriyyah, MD, MSPH, Ph.D is a lecturer and public health researcher with a strong background in population health, biostatistics, and demography. She obtained her medical degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, and completed her Master of Science in Public Health and Ph.D. in Population, Family, and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA.
Her research expertise focuses on reproductive and sexual health, maternal and child health, family planning, adolescent health, and demographic surveillance. She has more than seven years of experience in large-scale survey implementation in low- and middle-income country settings, including extensive work in data management, statistical analysis, and research dissemination. She is currently the Principal Investigator of the Sleman Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS), leading annual data collection on demographic events and cause-of-death determination using verbal autopsy methods.
dr. Ifta has published in high-impact international journals such as Studies in Family Planning, Maternal and Child Health Journal, American Journal of Public Health, Malaria Journal, and Journal of Adolescent Health. In addition to her research activities, she is actively involved in teaching biostatistics, epidemiology, and maternal and child health courses, as well as supervising graduate students in public health research.
